I can open a standalone VST version of Bluecat Patchwork, with Bias Desktop pro opened in one of Bluecat Patchwork slots (for say - Live use / jamming etc) I can use FX plugins that I already own, and I can even use Amplitube 3's plugins if I need to 'without' forking out more money for Bias FX If I'm using my Bias Desktop Pro (ie the amps) within Pro Tools, Personally, I cant even see the point in even checking out Bias FX desktop - let alone spend any money on it. , but that excitement instantly turned to disappointment upon realizing Bias FX desktop was another completely separate (and expensive) program to Bias Desktop Pro, which Bias FX also included many Amp sims of which I already own in Bias Desktop Pro If fact, great sound becomes very inexpensive.I was a bit excited to begin with, as I mistakenly thought my (expensive) Bias Desktop Pro was getting FX added to it, as it didnt come with any at all, If you do this, you don't needs hundreds of dollars of a-la-carte purchases from Amplitube. I strongly encourage modelling players develop their core sounds around 2 or 3 amps, really get to know them and stick with them just like a real amp. That should give you plenty of time to find what you're looking for before buying.

One of the nice features of Amplitube's custom shop is you can audition gear for free for 72 hours. Nobody plays with 10 amps and 50 pedals and get great tone out of every one, so why do we expect to do so with digital gear. In the end,you get the best tone from real gear when you have a small amount of gear that you get to know and essentially 'bond' with. play them for a while, find some that really have potential, audition them for different tones, then make a purchase decision and take it home. By that I mean, with real gear you go to a store, find some interesting pedals or amps. Very easy to use, low on resources and it's own format for stored presets saves all the bias/vst settings too. When I use them I use them in a VST host. With bias that is a PRO only feature which is a shame. That gets expensive.ДЄlso, most other tools just throw in MIDI for free so you can use pedals and footswitches.

The whole thing seems to be set up to give you gas and make you purchase multiple products to enjoy it properly. It never tells you that you may need several products in their suite to use that preset. If you try the demo you get to play everything alternating on/off every few seconds.
